Fall brings plenty of things to look forward to – cool mornings, falling leaves, football games, and pumpkin everything. But as temperatures drop, something else starts circulating, too: the flu.
While we can’t stop the seasons from changing, we can protect ourselves from what comes with them. Getting a flu shot is one of the easiest ways to safeguard your health and the health of those around you.
Why Flu Prevention Matters
Every year, influenza spreads quickly through schools, workplaces, and homes. The flu isn’t just an inconvenience; it can cause serious illness, especially for young children, older adults, and those with underlying health conditions.
Fortunately, vaccination significantly reduces your risk of catching the flu and can make symptoms milder if you do get sick. It also helps protect people who are more vulnerable.
Getting vaccinated each year ensures your body is ready to fight off the most current strains of the virus because flu viruses change from season to season.

A Few Healthy Habits Go a Long Way
Vaccination is your best defense against the flu, but simple habits help too:
Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face.
Cover your coughs and sneezes.
Stay home when you’re not feeling well.
Eat balanced meals, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep to keep your immune system strong.
Small, consistent steps (combined with your annual flu shot) make a big difference in staying healthy all season long.
Protect Yourself and Your Community
Flu season may be inevitable, but serious illness doesn’t have to be. Take a few minutes to roll down your window, roll up your sleeve, and protect your health this fall.
Your future self (and everyone you’re around) will thank you.
